Philip Joel Davis, went to be with the Lord, on Sunday, January 5th, 2025. Phil was living in Christmas Valley and suffered a heart attack while with family on Christmas Day in Dallas, Oregon.
Phil was born in Tacoma, Washington on October 26, 1955. His parents were Al and Delores Davis. Phil grew up in Dallas, Oregon where his dad was pastoring the Assembly of God church. His childhood was filled with close friends, who can testify to Phil's humor early on. In high school Phil met a girl from Kansas, Celeste Lyman, who would later become his wife of 49 years. Phil worked in the Dallas mill, as a commercial fisherman, and drove truck for 30 years. Phil received his license to preach with the Oregon District of the Assemblies of God, serving as youth pastor in Lebanon Oregon. He served as senior pastor in Siletz, Oregon followed with a pastorate in Wrangle, Alaska, and Stevensville, Montana.
From his youth Phil loved music, playing the guitar, bass, clarinet, bass clarinet, and the piano. Phil spent several years in the Nashville area, Las Vegas, Bend, LaPine, and Crescent before retiring in Christmas Valley. Phil worked closely with three Mexican church planters. He & Celeste helped establish the church, Samahua Alcances, in Santa Maria Huatulco, Oaxaca Mexico.
Wherever Phil would go, he would quickly make friends and bring along his joy and humor. Phil was a people person. His heart was for men and women to come to faith in Jesus, who he loved and served. Along with his music, Phil enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, sailing, and going out to cut wood. For Phil, heaven was having a fire in the wood stove, snow falling outside, and his dog on his lap. We should also say, and Celeste having something good cooking on the stove.
Phil is survived by his wife Celeste, his daughter Jessica, his son Robbie (Blue), his two grandsons Josiah and Ian. His sister Melodee, and his two brothers Jon and Doug.
Phil has been preceded in death by his mother Delores, his father Al, and his stepmother Mary Lou Davis.
