Philip J.
Age 60, of Penn Hills, on Friday, December 23, 2022. Beloved husband of Rachel S. Jones; son of Rev. Frank and Barbara DeLuce; brother of Ciara (David) Prezuhy and Deneen DeLuce; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Philip grew up in Penn Hills with loving parents and sisters. He greatly respected his father and the path he chose in life. Bicycle racing was an early obsession for Philip, leading to adventurous times and lasting relationships. Philip went to school at Westminster College in New Wilmington, majoring in political science and drama, a combination that fit perfectly for those who knew him well. After college, he managed political campaigns and honed his guitar skills. He was a talented and passionate performer. Rachel and Philip reunited in 2010 and started their travels together. They lived in Abu Dhabi, UAE; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Portland, Oregon and Monterey, California before heading back to Pennsylvania to be closer to family and friends and raise their California puppy, Ella. He enjoyed many long motorcycle rides and jamming with fellow musicians throughout these far away lands, making many friends around the globe. He died peacefully in the home he loved. He was whip-smart, had a great sense of humor and loved a good debate. Philip's passion for performing was only second to the love for his wife, Rachel, who will miss him every day. Friends received, Wednesday 1-3 p.m. at Soxman Funeral Homes, Ltd.,7450 Saltsburg Road (at Universal Road) Penn Hills, with a Funeral Service to follow at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Light of Life Mission.

There will only be one Phil DeLuce. "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming `Wow! What a ride!´ ". (H.Thompson). Phil lived and loved wildly and loudly, and I am forever grateful for his friendship. I know he wouldn´t have gone without a fight, and so God took him quietly in His happy place he shared with great love Rachel. Every sympathy and sweet memory to his dearest.
