Philip Good, 88, of Worcester, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11.

Born to John and Sophie Good on November 19, 1936, in Buffalo, New York, Philip, fondly known as Phil, grew up immersed in his Ukrainian heritage. His strong parents ensured he and his brother learned the language and customs, including the intricate art of decorating pysanka (Ukrainian Easter eggs) – a beautiful tradition now passed down through generations.

Phil pursued higher education at the University of Buffalo, earning a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts. It was there he met the love of his life, Thelma Bradford. They married a year later on October 13, 1958, in Buffalo. Phil continued his studies at Rutgers University in New Jersey, where he earned his MBA. Shortly after, they started their family and settled in Fairport, New York.

In 1973, Philip and his family made Worcester, Massachusetts, their home. He began his career as a Controller for Webster Spring in Oxford, MA, later rising to Vice President of Manufacturing when the company became Leggett & Platt. He dedicated 29 years to the company before retiring in 2002.

A man of deep faith, Philip was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister for several years.

Phil's true passion was golf. Many might say he was born with a golf club in his hand rather than a silver spoon. He was a devoted member of Worcester Country Club for forty-two years and served on its Board of Governors for several years. He even achieved that rare golfer's dream – a hole-in-one – while playing at the Green River golf course in California with his sons. They playfully ribbed him, noting it took a cross-country trip to achieve such a feat!

Beyond the green, Philip was a dedicated trustee for over twenty-three years on the Clara Barton Center Board, serving as chairman for three of those years. His impact was so profound that the staff and campers, who adored him, created "I Heart Phil" t-shirts for everyone.

Philip was known for his incredible work ethic, rarely missing a day. He was a true do-it-yourself individual, tackling everything from yard work and landscaping to shoveling snow, fixing household items, and especially wallpapering. His strong dislike for painting was legendary; he'd wallpaper every room in the house just to avoid picking up a paintbrush!

He cherished time with his seven grandchildren. Whether deep-sea fishing, golfing, visiting the casino, or watching sports, the activity mattered less than simply being together.

We'll always remember hearing him say: "Want me to turn this car around?", "Want to go out for ice cream?", and a heartfelt "Love ya." We couldn't have asked for a better father; we will miss him every day. Philip's memory will forever live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

Philip was predeceased by his beloved wife, Thelma, in 2024. He is survived by his brother, Raymond, and his six children: James, William, Leisa, Robert, Karen, Brian, and his seven cherished grandchildren, Tara, Kandis, Alicia, Grace, Erika, Charles, and Philip.

The funeral Mass for Philip will be held on Friday, July 25th at 1:00 PM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St., Worcester. A reception will immediately follow the service at the Kenary Room.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Barton Diabetes Center for Education in North Oxford, Massachusetts in Philip's name.
