Philip Earl Harrison, 63 years old, passed away in Port Charlotte, Florida on February 24, 2024. Philip was born on April 14, 1960, and is the son of Charles W Harrison, Sr and Fay T Harrison of Arcadia. After a long battle of health issues all his life, he went to be with our heavenly Father. Other than his family that he loved so much; his next love was racing sports cars.
He started racing motorcycles in his early teens and went into car racing a few years later. He raced at the Sebring International Raceway for many years. He won many races in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Virginia. He has lived in DeSoto County all his life and took pride in his herd of deer and turkeys that he fed every morning and night. Philip was of Baptist faith. Even though he didn't attend church every day, he kept his bible on the table and read it every morning and night.
Philip is survived by his mother, Fay T Harrison, his brother Charles W Harrison Jr. (Paula), his niece Cristinia Harrison-Hickox (Steven), his nephews, Charles W Harrison III, Colt Harrison (Jordan) and Jackson Beers. Six great nieces, Rylie Hickox, Macie Hickox, Charlee Hickox, Harper Harrison, Hailey Harrison, and one on the way and his dog Buddy and many friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles W Harrison, Sr.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Homes, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia.

We both spent many summers with our families on Lake June in Lake Placid FL. I can still hear his checkmate boat with a mercury motor cocked up coming from the cove to my dock. He would pick me up and we would cruise the lake in his boat and I loved every minute of it.
He also started my interest in Z cars as I eventually bought a 280z in high school after riding in his.
Sad day for me to hear this news but such great memories. RIP my friend. See you on the other side

Moving here ten years ago Philip wasn't just an amazing neighbor but was also an amazing friend. His passion for wildlife and natures beauty all around us was always inspiring and his love for life in the country is something I will never forget. I learned so much from him whether it was agriculture, raising cows, wild grapefruit and so many many other things. I feel blessed to have met and known him all these years and I, among others, will miss him greatly. Our neighborhood, road, and lives will never be the same.
