Coats, NC: Mr. Philip Ray Johnson, age 85, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Graveside Funeral Services will be 12:00PM-Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, 2664 Oak Grove Church Road, Angier, NC 27501. Mr. Freddy Honeycutt, Mr. Brian Dixon, and Rev. Brad Lee will officiate.
Mr. Johnson was born on August 9, 1939 in Harnett County to the late Ruby and Dennis Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jean Upchurch. Mr. Johnson was a retired farmer and drywall contractor, avid outdoorsman, enjoyed fishing and gardening, and attended Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church and Piney Grove Chapel Baptist Church. He loved his family and spending time at the beach.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betsy Parrish Johnson, daughter, Monica J. Thompson and husband, Tim, of Angier, NC and a granddaughter, Emme Ann Thompson.
Mr. Johnson will lie in state on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 from 1:00PM-5:00PM at Rose and Graham Funeral Home 90 W. Stewart Street, Coats, NC 27521. The family will not be present during this time.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Piney Grove Chapel Baptist Church.
