Philip (Philly) Charlie Loomer, 71, of Tobacco Gardens passed away in his home on August 11, 2025.
Philly was born August 2,1954 to Charley and Sigrid (Nyland) Loomer in Watford City, North Dakota. Philly grew up on the family farm southeast of Keene, until his family moved to Watford City after the passing of his father Charlie. He spent most of his teenage years in Watford until life took him to the Minot area for a few years.
Philly bought land in Tobacco Gardens area in 1982. He built and continued to build the beautiful house along with many other structures, that now stands proudly in the side of the road and can be seen when you drive to the lake. Philly had many hobbies throughout the years, these hobbies included building furniture, hunting, fishing, gardening, and raising livestock. The naming of the livestock must be mentioned as it was always appropriate for the animal. These names included Hamburger and Side pork. He continued to work on updating the house and property as often as possible.
Philly loved taking his nieces and nephews, or anyone willing to go on outdoor adventures. Anytime someone would call or stop to visit, he made sure to tell them about the last adventure he went on. The adventure stories always included the good and the bad, like if they caught enough fish to feed the entire family or got skunked on the trip. It was clear when he talked about his adventures, he was just happy to be out there.
In 1976, Philly and Roxanne Cook had their daughter, Monica Belle. Even though they were never married, the love Monica had growing up was unconditional. In 1995 Monica gave birth to Kennedy, a few years later in 1998, Veronica. Philly was never prouder than when talking about his girls. His girls included is granddaughters, and his best dogs Babe, Leena and Casey. Wherever he went, the dogs went too. If one of his granddaughters told him what their favorite vegetable was, he made sure it was in the garden the next year. If they told him about a flower they loved, it would be planted front and center in the garden the next year. If they mentioned a new hobby, Philly would do what he could to make that hobby an interest of his. In 2024, on his 70th birthday, of all the days, Philly became a great-grandfather to Colter Henry, and was looking forward to meeting his great-granddaughter.
Philly was known to be a man of few words, but it didn't matter if words were involved or not, his family knew the love he had for them was large, unconditional, and everlasting.
Philip is survived by his daughter, Monica Tracey; granddaughters, Kennedy Tracey (Alex Dejardine) and Veronica Tracey (Zackary Rippin); great-grandson, Colter DeJardine; soon-to-be great-granddaughter, baby M; step-granddaughter, Tiara Tracey; step-great grandson, Nolan Peterson; siblings Susie (Ed) Clifford, David (Gloria) Loomer, Ole Loomer, Carol (Tony) Tank, and Clint (Dawn) Loomer; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Sigrid Loomer; sister Lila Rasmussen; sister-in-law, Liz Loomer; niece, Hannah Rasmussen; and nephews Charlie and Matthew Loomer.
