Margaret "Margie" Loomer

Margaret "Margie" Loomer, 92, died peacefully at home on Thursday, May 8. 2025.
To celebrate Margie's life a service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, May 16, 2025 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 140 Gathering Place Lane, Iowa City. The family will greet friends from 10 AM to 11 AM.
A private family committal service will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Andrew Prebyterian Church for Sewing For Others or Lettuce Feed Others.
Margie was born September 4, 1932 in Mason City, the daughter of Edwin and Gertrude (Cordes) Doescher. She attended Lincoln School #9, a one room school-house in Clear Lake, and in 1949 graduated from Clear Lake High School at the age of 16. Margie graduated from the University of Iowa at the age of 70.
Margie was a secretary for 25 years in the department of orthopedics at UIHC.
Margie was affectionately called "Neer" by her family. She loved to garden, and was proud to have been selected to host her garden on the annual Project Green Garden tour. She also enjoyed quilting and sewing. Throughout the years Margie has been an active member at St. Andrew Church where she had served as a church elder, a deacon, a Stephen Minister, and a Sunshine Helper.
Survivors include her children, Kirk (Julie) Loomer of Coralville, Scott (Susan) Loomer of Portland, OR, Lynne Ginsberg of Coralville; and Anne (Steve) Richardson of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Kris (Amber), Justin (Leah), Logan, Jordan, Landon (Andrea), and Megan; great grandchildren, Addyson, Avery, Nolan, Ethan, and Elliott.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jay; grandson, Louis; and siblings, Harold Doescher and Sharon Wendel.
