With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Philip "Phil" Masemer-a man whose legacy was not built merely in business or accomplishments, but in the immeasurable kindness, quiet strength, and deep compassion he shared with the world around him. Phil passed away leaving behind a life defined by devotion-to his family, his faith, his work, and to those whom life had not always been kind.
Phil had an uncommon gift: he believed in people, especially those who had been overlooked or broken by life's challenges. He offered hope without judgment, and love without condition. His ability to see the good in others, even when they couldn't see it in themselves, left a lasting imprint on countless lives.
He is survived by his beloved wife and partner in all things, Joanne; son Brian Masemer and wife Isha, daughters Heidi Brown and husband Travis, and Wendy Masemer; and grandchildren Maddy and Walker Brown, who brought immense joy to his life. Also surviving are his sister Sandy Harvison; brother Dwayne Masemer and wife Alice; and a large extended family of numerous brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, his son Erik Masemer (1989), brother-in-law Cliff Harvison, and beloved aunt Ann Fenton.
A proud graduate of McLean High School, Class of 1965, Phil was a lifelong entrepreneur and community contributor. He formerly owned and operated Great Falls Exxon for over 30 years and, together with Joanne, built a successful real estate and property management company.
Phil lived fully, with a love for the river that was as deep as his love for people. Whether he was boating, water skiing, snow skiing in the winter, or simply gathered with friends eating crabs by the riverbank, he found joy in nature and in the simple pleasures of life well-lived.
Phil was always in motion-driven by purpose, grounded in humility. He had a rare ability to bring calm to life's storms, and a quiet wisdom that comforted all who knew him. His hard work, generosity, and unwavering love will remain a guiding light to those he leaves behind.
Services will be private and officiated by Rev. Joel Rainey. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Phil's honor to Covenant Church of Shepherdstown, WV.
Though Phil's physical presence is gone, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the lives he touched so deeply. He will be forever cherished, forever remembered, and forever missed.

It's been a privilege and a pleasure to be Phil's personal "favourite Cashier at the Home Depot" these 19 years! Getting to know him and Jim have filled many moments with Joy and Laughter! My heart goes out to Joanne, all these years, you two have been my Favourite Couple! Always taking special care of you both made countless days special for me!
I will miss Phil deeply and remember him fondly.
