Philip Corey Oellrich, 71, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022. Phil was born on August 1, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois to Henry and Delores (Corey) Oellrich.
Phil was a longtime resident of Bolingbrook, IL, and was a graduate of Amundsen High School, class of 1969, as well as DeVry University. He was a technician for 34 years at 3M, Lanier Worldwide (now part of Ricoh), and after retiring he was a school bus driver for a few years. He then was a home inspector; jack of all trades.
He is survived by his wife, Christeen (nee Mendis) Oellrich, whom he married on September 21, 1991, and his daughter, Laura (Brian) Kaster, as well as grandson Owen, sister Virginia (Arthur) Specht, and brother Jerry Oellrich. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews who have fond memories of spending time with "Uncle Phil" as well as other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Delores (Corey) Oellrich, his sister Nancy (Jack) Stanton, and his first wife, Sharon (nee: Sciborski) Oellrich.
Phil loved music-both listening to and playing it, particularly oldies tunes. He played electric guitar and organ and attended many concerts around the area. Phil also immensely enjoyed Jeopardy, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, steam trains and planes worldwide, the Illinois Railroad Museum in Union, IL and would visit many museums and events that catered to those interests. He and his wife Christeen were also avid travelers, and have visited Australia, France, Sri Lanka, Las Vegas, California, Utah, Florida and the United Kingdom-among many other destinations around the globe-throughout their more than 31 years of marriage.
Visitation Wednesday, September 7th, from 4:00pm-8:00pm.
Funeral Thursday, September 8th 11:00am at McCauley-Sullivan Funeral Home 530 W. Boughton Rd. Bolingbrook, IL. 60440.
Entombment Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 1400 S Wolf Rd, Hillside, IL 60162, (708) 449-8300
