Philip A. "Pap" Patterson
Age 100, of Chambersburg, PA, formerly of Wilkins Twp. passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024. Born in the Pittsburgh suburb of Crafton, Pa on August 9, 1924, Philip graduated from Crafton High School in 1943. During WWII, he served in the US Navy Seabees from 1943-46 and was stationed in the Admiralties and Okinawa in the Pacific Theater. Following the conclusion of WWII, Philip graduated from Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He married Margaret D. McLaughlin in 1951 and had 3 sons. "Pap" continued to serve his county in civilian life by working as a design draftsman on the design of nuclear powered submarines and aircraft carriers while employed at Westinghouse Bettis in suburban Pittsburgh. He also worked at Dravo Corp. as well as several engineering firms in the Pittsburgh area retiring in 1992.
Philip was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Patrick in 1996 and his wife, Margaret in 1999. He is survived by his son, Mark Philip Patterson (Ann) of Chambersburg PA and his son, Paul Vincent Patterson (Lynn) of Pittsburgh PA. In addition, he is survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 9:30 AM until an 11 AM service at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., 118 Shaw Avenue, Turtle Creek (412-823-1950). Interment with Military Honors will follow at Good Shepherd Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516 or online at www.woundedwarriorproject.org. www.jobefuneralhome.com.
