Philip G. Rotter

Philip George Rotter passed away January 7th, 2025 at home after a short battle with cancer.
He was born June 18, 1944 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Margaret and George Rotter.
The family moved to Green Bay in 1957 where he attended Premontre High School and graduated in 1962. He was an active businessman in Green Bay for nearly 60 years. From the early 1960's to 1984 Phil managed and co-owned R-Fine Family Restaurant, a fixture on North Washington Street, with his dad, George. Phil founded the Green Bay Chapter of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association, which he chaired for eight years. He also served one year as Chair of the state association and was elected Restauranteur of the Year in 1978. Phil and Lyn started and maintained Rotter Business Forms from 1985 until retirement in 2021.
Phil met and married his wife, Lyn on January 16th, 1965 and they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage today. Phil loved the family that he and Lyn raised, and they were happy to create a home where they could play in the pool, make a fort in the woods, hang out by the fire pit, or teach a grandchild to fish.
Phil was an avid outdoorsman. He loved nothing more than going camping and hunting with his boys and his friends as well as many fishing trips. He also had many other memorable trips with Lyn including going to Normandy, France with his daughter and son-in-law. He greatly enjoyed military history and was pleased to have his own personal tour guide.
Phil loved any opportunity to tell jokes, make a bonfire, and cook some "damn good" food including his specialty "midnight chicken". Everyone will remember Phil for telling old jokes and then acting like it was a new one that he just made up.
Phil is survived by his wife Lynda (Zieman) Rotter; his sons and daughters-in-law: Cary and Leslie Rotter of Green Bay, and Jef and Julie Rotter of Rochester, Minnesota; his daughter and son-in-law, Kristy and Steve Stoddard of Fairfax Station, Virginia; Grandchildren Matthew and Skylar Rotter, Nathan and Jaden Rotter, Alexander, Jennifer and Samantha Stoddard, and Quinn Drescher; three great-grandchildren ; his sister Mitzi Rotter; nieces and nephews, and his constant buddy Rikki Tikki. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Betty and Gil Zieman, and his brother Jim.
Phil's family would like to thank Dr. Krizenesky and Unity Hospice for their comfort, care and concern.
Visitation will be January 16th from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. at. The Lyndahl Funeral Home with a short celebration of life to follow.
