With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Philip J Welch, 88 years of age, of Victor, New York. Philip passed away surrounded with loved ones on June 25, 2025.
Philip was born on October 2, 1936, to Charles (Bucky) and Edna Welch in Corning, New York. He graduated from Corning Free Academy, and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He went on to attend and graduate from Alfred State University. Philip was a proud veteran of the United States Army and often had shared stories of his military adventures. He was later fortunate to participate in the Honor Flight program. Following his service, he began his career in the lumber industry and went on to become a small business owner in the industrial supply sector. For many years Philip also served as an active volunteer for the Mendon Fire Department.
Philip married the love of his life, Joan Caverly, on December 19, 1964. Together they shared 61 wonderful years. Philip was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is remembered by his sparkling smile and his passion for laughter, fun, and life. Philip had a special way of connecting with others, often turning strangers into friends.
Philip is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Joan, his sister and brother-in-law Janet and Jack Beck, and his 3 sons; Jeffrey J. (Pam), Marc S., and Eric J. (Diane). He was blessed with 3 grandsons; Travis, Timothy, and Torin. Philip was also fortunate to have 4 step- grandchildren; Chloe, Joey, Max, and Sophie Pogoda. He will also be remembered by many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Calling Hours
Date: Sunday, June 29, 2025
Time: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Location: Miller Funeral Services of Victor
301 West Main Street, Victor, New York
Immediately after calling hours, there will be a short service for family and friends. We plan to gather at The Cottage Hotel following the service to lift a pint toasting a life well lived.
