Phillip Dandrea Bryant

Phillip Dandrea Bryant born January 26, 1956, as a citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation “Este Mvskokvike”, a federally recognized Native American tribe descended from the historic Muscogee Confederacy in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Roscoe Kennedy Hill and Opal Dimples Bryant. Raised in a living and close-knit family. At the age of 9 Phillip professed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior when his family moved to Spencer, Oklahoma. Phillip attended Hillwood Baptist church and was baptized by Reverend Oather Benjamin Burrough, Sr.

Phillip attended 3rd grade at Woodson Elementary School, OKC (1964-1965), 3rd grade (1965-1966), 4th Grade (1966-1967) Rose Hill, Spencer, OK, 5th grade (1967-1968) 6th grade (1968-1969) Green Pastures Elementary, he attended Rogers Middle school (1969-1971) and Star Spencer High School (1971-1975). While attending Star Spencer High School, Phillip was awarded Official Athletic Letter for Junior High Football (1971-1972),and played volleyball and basketball. Also, during this time, he attended the Langston University Upward Bound program (1973). After graduating from Star Spencer High school, Phillip attended Langston University. Phillip worked for the City of Oklahoma City and Wilson Meat Packing Company as a meat cutter and later retired.

Phillip was preceded in death by his father Roscoe Kennedy Hill (OKC), maternal grandparents Zelma Fleming-Bryant-Johnson (Boyton, OKC) and Emmit Oscar Bryant (Grandpa Demp Tulsa, OK), great grandparents Emmit J. Bryant, Sr. and Tabitha Winn, citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation “Este Mvskokvike”, paternal grandparents Cephus and Lillian Hill (OKC), one Uncle Dorsey Johnson (Vangie Pacheco) Vallejo, CA, one great nephew Nathaniel Marshall Duffey Killean, TX, and a host of great-great aunts, uncles, and second cousins.

Phillip leaves to mourn two children, James Cornelius Lewis Oklahoma City, OK, Kelley Tennille Lewis Moore, OK, seven grandchildren: Zaria Marie Dunn, Theodore Cornelius Lewis, Trevor Champion Lewis, twins (J’Manel and J’Lewis Walker), K’lee Jones and Kaleb Lewis, Mother Opal Dimples Bryant Midwest City, OK, two brothers Robert James Brison (Cheryl) Oklahoma City, Anthony Ray Bryant Midwest City, OK; three sisters Dr. Zeldra Marie Bryant EdD Midwest City, OK, Patricia Ann Bryant Midwest City, OK, and Janice Faye Bryant, Del City, OK, five nieces: Zeporia Deneice LaShae Jackson Moore, OK, Z’Quita Antwinnette Woodard Del City, OK, Shareka Renee Duffey Killean, TX, Amber Milsap Oklahoma City, OK, Desree Brison Oklahoma City, OK, three nephews Zesmond Maurice White Oklahoma City, OK, Brian Milsap Oklahoma City, OK and Markell Milsap Oklahoma City, OK, ten great nieces, five great nephews, one great-great niece and nephew.

Phillip enjoyed spending time with family, friends and like-minded people. His independent spirit allowed him to march to his own personal drum that often manifested as rebelliousness or a tendency to resist authority and traditional norms when he felt his freedom was being restricted.

Phillip will always be remembered for his independence, freedom, and natural humanitarian personality traits, laughter and comfort to those that he encountered in life and his loyalty, intelligence, and unique perspective that made him truly special. Phillip Dandrea Bryant's legacy lives on in the love he gave and the memories he leaves behind.
