Phillip Morgan Cloyd, 90, husband of Doris Cloyd, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Born July 22, 1934 in Junction City, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Jullian "Dude" and Minnie Doss Cloyd. Phil served in the United States Army and retired from GTE Phone Company. He was a faithful member of Mortonsville Methodist Church. Phil's true joys in life were spending time with his family and friends and casting a line in his favorite fishing spot. His love for sport was legendary.
Phil will be forever loved and remembered by his devoted wife of 38 years, Doris Scott Cloyd, Versailles, children; Gwen (Roger) Freeman, Port Charlotte, FL., Phillip Cloyd, Richmond, Kelly (Robbie) Lamb, Lancaster, Terri (Barry) Baker, Versailles, Scott (Christina) Curry, Versailles, Steve (Gwen) Curry, Versailles, grandchildren; Jennifer Mullins, Crystal Gash, Shane Cloyd, Brandon Cloyd, Ethan Lamb, P.J. Cloyd, Lyndsay Cloyd, John Paul Woodrum, Amanda Shepard, Kelcie Hughes, Paige Barrie, Coty Curry, Tamra Sawlsville, Jesse Evans, Joey Evans, and 23 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Phil was also preceded in death by his daughter, Phyllis Peterson, and two brothers, Morris "Moose" Cloyd, and Don Cloyd.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, Pastor Amy Barkman officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow the service at Rose Crest Cemetery where pallbearers will be Stephen Morrison, Kevin Cloyd, Roger Cloyd, Ethan Lamb, Greg Wilcox, and Ethan Gallehr. Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence Miracle, Bobby Flora, Mitch Kenton, and members of Mortonsville Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Mortonsville Methodist Church c/o Pastor Amy Barkman, 362 Proctor Street, Danville, KY 40422. Friends and family are encouraged to leave messages of condolence and share memories here on Phil's tribute wall.
