Phillip Eugene "Gene" Fleming, 79, of Bloomery, WV, died on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Winchester, VA.

Gene was born on June 10, 1946, in Clintwood, VA, the son of the late James Irvin Fleming and Opal Cable Fleming. Throughout his life, Gene worked hard-as a coal miner, a roofer, and many years for McFarland's Sawmill as a supervisor. He enjoyed collecting firearms and spending time in the woods hunting.

Gene married Katheryn Francis Sulsar Fleming on August 11, 1967.

Surviving along with his wife of 58 years are his children: James P. Fleming and wife Kristal of Bloomery, WV; Phyllis J. Wilson and her husband Robert of Whitacre, VA; his stepdaughter: Katherine Kincaid of White Sulfur Springs, WV; three brothers: Dale Fleming and Ralp Fleming both of Defiance, OH; and Donnie Fleming of Nags Head, NC; four sisters: Irene France, Rosie Whitt and Lovetta Mullins all of Clintwood, VA; and Patty Benson of Defiance, OH; six grandchildren: Desirea, Cody, Amanda, Colten, Madeline and Cleo.

He is preceded in death by three brothers: Shelton, Teddy and James Harold Fleming and one sister: Joyce Nelson.

The family will receive friends at the Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory in Capon Bridge, WV on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 6-8 PM.
