Phillip J. Hesser, 70, of Belle Center, passed away at 2:29 a.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Hospice of Central Ohio in Columbus. He was born in Kenton, Ohio on July 19, 1954, to the late Charles E. and D. Ruth (Beatty) Hesser. On September 14, 1973, in Bellefontaine, Phil married Rebecca K. (Houchin) Hesser, and she survives.
He is also survived by his children, Shawn Hesser of Belle Center, Holly (John) Baughman of East Liberty, and Melissa (Justin Van Buskirk) Hesser of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Ethan Williams, Gavin Van Buskirk, Diesel Baughman, and Maelee Van Buskirk; great grandson, Avery Williams; sister-in-law, Donna Hesser; and nieces and nephew, Jennifer (Tim) Newland, Billie (Grant) Mizek, and Chuck (Jenni) Hesser.
Along with his parents, Phil was also preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Richard Hesser, and Gary Eugene Hesser.
Phil worked for Daido Metal as a shipping coordinator and retired in June of 2023 after 41 years of service. In his spare time, he loved woodworking and was a great carpenter. He loved listening to classic rock music and attending concerts. Phil enjoyed working outside in the flowerbeds and was a fan of dirt track racing, especially at Eldora Speedway. Phil loved animals, and his dog, Bella. He loved to spend time with his family and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Pastor Kris Langstaff will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 306 N. Elizabeth Street, Belle Center. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 2, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Belle Center.
