Phillip Andrew Maddox, 74, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025. Born on November 6, 1950, in Fayetteville to the late James Odie and Florence Maddox, Phillip grew up in Taft, TN. Life took him to Lakeland, Florida, for a time, but his heart eventually led him back home to Fayetteville.
Friends may visit with the family Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at Lynchburg Funeral Home. A memorial service will immediately follow.
Phillip spent many years as a dedicated General Supervisor for McDonald Brothers before earning his favorite promotion of all - full-time "stay-at-home grandpa," a title he proudly held for the last 20 years.
Known for his witty sarcasm, quick humor, and expert card-playing skills - especially when it came to poker and rook - Phillip brought laughter and competition to every table he sat at. He was a loyal fan of the Tennessee Vols and the Atlanta Braves, loved his rock 'n' roll, and never turned down a good game or a good time.
Above all, Phillip's greatest joy was his family. He embraced every role - husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa - with unwavering love and pride.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gary Maddox. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Rebecca Gail Maddox; children, Tracey Carpenter, Tonya (Tommy) Linnell, Phillip W. Maddox, and Stacey (Derrick Chapman) Maddox; grandchildren, Jeremy (Kaylan) Shelton, Jake Shelton, Dominic (Kristen Leggett) Maddox, Britney (JB Goodin) Linnell, Tiara Maddox, Katlynn (Cody) Luttrell, Emily (William) Mosley, Alexus Maddox, Karlee Maddox, Hannah (Christian) Counts, Sophia Chapman, and Kaiden Chapman; and 13 great-grandchildren who adored him beyond measure.
He is also survived by his brothers, Johnny (Cathy) Maddox and Larry (Rhonda) Maddox, sister-in-law Judy Clemons Maddox, and beloved nephew Eric (Jennifer) Maddox, along with a host of extended family and friends who will forever miss his humor, stories, and love.
Phillip's legacy of laughter, love, and family devotion will live on in all who knew him.
