Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Phillip Ralph Montgomery, 84, of West Monroe, Louisiana will be held at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, June 29, 2024, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, Louisiana with Rev. Larry Eubanks officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Winnsboro, Louisiana. The visitation will be held from 12:45 P.M. until service time on Saturday.
Mr. Montgomery was born in Winnsboro, Louisiana on March 18, 1940, to Phillip Calander Montgomery and Bessie Mae Anita Jones Montgomery and passed away on June 27, 2024, following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Montgomery graduated from Winnsboro High School, served in the United States Air Force, and attended Louisiana Tech University. He was a longtime banker at Central Bank.
Mr. Montgomery enjoyed spending his extra time playing the trumpet in community bands, participating in military events, and serving in Christian ministries.
Mr. Montgomery is preceded in death by his parents, Phillip Calander Montgomery and Bessie Mae Anita Jones Montgomery; five sisters, Pauline Ensminger, Audrey Bailey, Dorothy Chapman, Barbara Burt, and Phyllis Smith; and grandson, Adam John Meaux.
Survivors include his wife, Margret Hendrix Montgomery; son, Jeff Montgomery of Fayetteville, Arkansas; daughter, Ashley Montgomery Meaux (David) of New Iberia, Louisiana; stepson Michael McGowen (Wendy) of Spring, Texas; and grandchildren, Julia Montgomery, Emily Meaux; and step grandson, Andrew McGowen
Pallbearers will be Roland Hendrix, Justin Hendrix, Dale Hendrix, David Meaux, Michael McGowen, and Jesse Mills
The family would like to extend special thanks to the caring and supportive staff at Stoney Brook Memory Care Center, especially Lisa Hughes.
Phillip is now fully healed and restored and playing the trumpet in the heavenly choir along with the angel, Gabriel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charitable organization of your choice.
