Columbus, Ohio - Phillip R.(Lucky) Shell, born on May 28, 1946, in West Van Lear, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home on December 5th, 2023. He was a cherished father, devoted grandfather, and beloved member of the Columbus community.
Phillip was the son of Samuel and Emma Shell and was preceded in death by his parents and brother Donnie Shell.
He is survived by his daughters, Kimberlee Keiser (Timothy), Tina Baird (David), son Brian Shell (Tina), sister Carol Johnson, niece Sandy Johnson Ripstein, and niece Chris Johnson.
He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren: Raymond Keiser, Christopher Keiser, Brian Keiser, Aaron Cooper (Catie), Casey Cooper, Robert Baird (Amna), Alex Baird, and Haley Shell, along with great-grandchildren totaling thirteen.
A proud veteran, Phillip honorably served his country in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, earning accolades including the National Defense Medal, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, and Rifle Expert Medal. He exemplified courage and dedication throughout his service, embodying the Marine Corps values of honor, courage, and commitment.
Following his military service, Phillip embarked on a career in the insurance business before transitioning into law enforcement as a Deputy Sheriff in Clark County, Ohio. His commitment to public service and protection of his community was unparalleled, culminating in his retirement as a Sergeant and Firearms Instructor. He dedicated countless years to ensuring the safety and well-being of those around him, leaving a lasting impact on the lives he touched.
Phillip was a pillar of strength, known for his resilience, unwavering dedication, and selflessness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a veteran beneficial charity of choice in memory of Phillip R Shell - USMC.
Phillip R Shell will be remembered for his kindness, valor, and unwavering dedication to his family, country, and community. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
