Phillip Craig Thompson, age 70, passed away on September 7, 2024, in Simpsonville, South Carolina after a short illness and went home to his Savior Jesus Christ.
Phillip was born on April 28, 1954, in Ada, Oklahoma to parents Wanda Claudette and AE Thompson. He married Dee Ann James on January 23, 1988, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Phillip graduated from Muskogee High School and the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. He worked 35 years in Human Resource management. His last position before retiring was Executive Vice President of Human Resources at O'Reilly Auto Parts in Springfield, Missouri.
After living in many different locations, Phillip and his wife, Dee Ann, retired to Simpsonville, South Carolina. They enjoyed traveling during their marriage to many domestic and international locations.
Phillip loved the University of Oklahoma Sooners football games, and unfortunately missed getting to see them play in the SEC Conference this year. He also loved their many beloved pets, spicy Mexican food, going to auctions with his wife, and in his younger years, working in his yard and going to amusement parks to win prizes for his nieces.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Wanda Claudette and AE Thompson. He is survived by his wife, Dee Ann, sister Janice Woods of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and an uncle Waymon Thompson of Durant, Oklahoma, 4 nieces, 1 nephew, 6 great nephews, 1 great niece, and 2 great great nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with a private burial at Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Phillip will be greatly missed by family members and friends, but most of all by his wife of 36 years.
