Phillips Lee Obituary

Phillips Minton Lee peacefully passed away on July 25 at age 96. A life-long native of Nashville, Phil attended Hillsboro High School and Vanderbilt University where he was President of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Phil was a property & casualty insurance agent for over 50 years, mostly with Wade & Egbert, formerly Wade & Lee Insurance Agency. Phil was a loving, devoted, supportive, and generous husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to his extended family.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, John Francis Lee and Louise Minton Lee, both of Nashville; his first wife of 33 years, Patricia Cawthon Lee of Franklin, TN; his second wife of 39 years, Emily Connelly Lee of Lewisburg, TN; his brother John F. Lee, Jr., stepdaughter Cathy Cowan, stepson-in-law Sam Cowan, and granddaughter Jelyn Rosa Elizabeth Lee. He is survived by his daughter Patricia (Larry) Wakefield, son Phillips (Janice) Lee, Jr., stepson Capt. David (Sue) Dealy, USN, RET; grandchildren Colin (Gloria Ann) Lee, and Matthew (Nikkalyn) Lee, Emily (Jeremy) Kline, Michael (Angela) Dealy, Catie (Andrew) Dougherty, Rachael (Ashley) Kable; niece Heren Lee, nephew John Wilder Lee, and niece Kenna Lee, and seven great-grandchildren.
Phil was a long-time member of Belle Meade Methodist Church, a member of the Exchange Club (now the Economic Club of Nashville) and past president of the board of The Cloister at St. Henry retirement community for several terms.
Visitation with the family will begin on Monday, August 1, 2022 from 9:00 am until service time at 10:00 am. All services will be held at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN. 37221.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers please make a donation to Alive Hospice (www.alivehospice.com).
