Phillis Later Obituary
She was born on January 19, 1938, one of 12 children of the late Aden and Lena (Frost) Henry Sr. She grew up in Burnham and later moved to Pittsfield.
Phillis enjoyed watching old television shows, figuring out crossword puzzles, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and listening to the old country songs, especially with Loretta Lynn and Patsy Klein singing. She loved gardening, enjoyed a glass of Wild Irish Rose with her dinner, and liked sipping on Allen's coffee brandy.
She is survived by her children: Gloria James, Kelly Stanley and husband Don, Dana Chase, Rocky Chase, Ernest Chase, Selena Chase, Tammy Baker, Scott Chase, and Robert Later; a special granddaughter, Melissa Demmons, who she raised as her daughter; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: Cheryl and husband Gerald, Barbara, Geraldine, Doris, Helen, and Aden Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lorin Later; son, Dean; daughter, Rebecca; twin brother, Phillip; and siblings: Lawrence, Wesley, Lorraine, and Martha.
A memorial service will be held at noon, Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the Maine Veterans Blue Star Memorial Cemetery, 143 Blue Star Avenue, Augusta, Maine. Please meet in the committal shelter for the service.
