Phyllis Ballantine, 97, of Stanhope passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 7, 2026 surrounded by family. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2026 at Stanhope Parish with visitation beginning at 9:15 a.m. prior to the service. Private family burial will be at the Lawn Hill Cemetery.
Phyllis M. Robinson, daughter of James and Hazel (Murphy) Robinson, was born September 17, 1928 in Webster City. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1946. On April 20, 1947, Phyllis was united in marriage to Donald Dean Ballantine at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She worked at the grocery store in Stanhope and later owned and operated Ballantine Clothing from 1974 – 1981.
She is survived by her son, Jim (Mary) Ballantine of Milwaukee, WI; grandchildren, Jody Head, John (Jill) Ballantine, Jamie Kellogg, Leslie (Nick) Damico; 12 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; brothers, Chet Robinson of Fort Dodge, Bob Robinson of Connecticut and several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Don in 2014; her parents; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Cindy Ballantine; great-grandsons, Joseph Head and Jace Cajthaml and siblings, Cappy Leonard, Irish Robinson, Jean Tracy and Glen Robinson.
She was a member of Stanhope Parish. Phyllis enjoyed coffee with friends, shopping at Kohls and she had perfected the “art of the deal” at garage sales.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. The family would like to thank St. Croix hospice and Crestview Nursing Home and staff for the wonderful care that Phyllis has received.
Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with the services.
