Phyllis Marie Cavitt

Phyllis Marie Cavitt, the daughter of Earl and Elsa T. (Swanson) Clement, was born March 20, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the class of 1942.
On October 3, 1943, Phyllis was united in marriage with Clyde Clifford Cavitt at the First Lutheran Church in Newton, Iowa. Phyllis devoted her life to her husband and family. She had been employed as a sales clerk at Forbes Office Equipment and ended her working career in her 90's, as a sorter for Rock Communications in Newton. Phyllis was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Jasper County Historical Society and enjoyed her job at Rock Communications.
Phyllis died on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at Valley Vista Nursing Home in Newton, Iowa. She was 100 years old. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde, on June 25, 2004; and her sisters, Frances Curtis, Ardis Fleener and Doris Strovers.
Those left to honor Phyllis' name include her daughter, Pam Kay Conklin of Newton; her sons, Dennis Cavitt of Troy, MI and Scott Cavitt of Newton; her seven grandchildren and her twelve great-grandchildren.
No public services are planned. Memorials may be designated to the First United Methodist Church or the Jasper County Historical Society and may be left at the Pence Reese Funeral Home.
