Phyllis Russell Edwards

Phyllis Diane Russell-Edwards, age 71, passed away Thursday, January 1. 2026, at her home in East Prairie, MO. She was born September 2, 1954, in East Prairie, to the late Joe Russell and Mattie Mae Smith Russell and had been employed at Brown Shoe Co. in Charleston, MO. She enjoyed knitting and reading. She also spent time watching her favorite television show, Yellowstone, and was a huge fan of western movies, especially those which starred John Wayne. Most of all, she loved her grandkids.

She married Eldon Wyley Edwards on March 12, 1985; he preceded her in death August 25, 2000.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph (Brandy) Russell of East Prairie and Christopher Russell of Perryville, MO; one daughter, LyDonna (Jason) Young of East Prairie; one stepson, Mat Edwards Penix, address unknown; and one sister, Kerrah Jo (T.W.) McDermott of Charleston. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kalup (Deric), Alexander (Brittany), Bradley, Reva (Hunter), Amy, Desiree (Tristan), Thalia, and Daniel; her great grandchildren, Hunter, Carson, Bodhi, Bentley, Briella, Blayze, Skylar, and Sophia; as well as many cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Don Russell; two sisters, Betty Lou Russell and Carolyn Russell Kearby; and her stepmother, Joyce Russell.

A visitation will be held for family and friends Monday, January 5, 2026, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.

Interment will be held at a later date.
