Phyllis Gomulka, 83, of
Old Bridge, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Phyllis was the beloved daughter of the late Sophie and John Hilarczyk. She was raised in Colonia and graduated with the Class of 1960 from Woodbridge High School. After graduation, Phyllis began a long and dedicated career as an insurance secretary at Prudential, where she worked for many years. Phyllis raised her family in Avenel, New Jersey, before eventually settling in Old Bridge with her beloved husband, Adam, whom she married in 1989. Together, they built a life filled with love, partnership, and simple joys tending to their home, nurturing their garden, and cherishing each others company. A woman of deep faith, Phyllis was a devoted member of Most Holy Redeemer Church and previously served as a lector at St. Andrews Church. Her spiritual life was an anchor throughout her years, and she found great joy and purpose in serving her parish communities. Phyllis had a lifelong passion for sewing. She lovingly created clothes and dresses for her children and was especially known for her imaginative Halloween costumes. She also enjoyed needlepoint, a hobby that allowed her creativity and patience to shine. Above all, Phyllis was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her world, and her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her. Phyllis is predeceased by her loving parents, Sophie and John Hilarczyk, and by her beloved husband, Adam Gomulka. She is survived by her devoted children: her son Thomas and daughter-in-law Colette, and her daughter Cheryl and son-in-law James and by her son Gary and wife Doreen. She is also survived by her dear brother, Kenneth Hilarczyk. Also by her cherished grandchildren, Thomas, Michael, Jimmy, Kevin, Ryan, Gary Jr., and Tyler, and the proud great-grandmother of six adored great-grandchildren, all of whom she treasured deeply. Phyllis legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be dearly missed and always lovingly remembered. A Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday at Most Holy Redeemer Church located at 133 Amboy Road Matawan, New Jersey 07747. Interment will be in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge, NJ.
