Phyllis Ann Hayes of Saranac Lake died July 12, 2022, at Adirondack Medical Center after a brief illness related to a fall and broken hip.
She was born in Troy, NY on November 3, 1942, the daughter of John Quinlan and Porta (Polites) Quinlan. She graduated from Malone high school in 1960 and attended nursing school in Watertown, becoming an X-ray technician and was employed at Saranac Lake General Hospital until her marriage to Sanford C. Hayes III on August 3, 1963. In later years, she was employed at the Adirondack ARC on Trudeau Road until her retirement.
Survivors besides her husband are two sons, S. Curtis Hayes IV of Vermontville and Todd M. Hayes of Yulee, Florida and two daughters, Stacey Higginbotham (Barry) of Yulee, Florida and Deanna Hayes Ryan (Murphy) of Saranac Lake. Also, eight grandchildren, Kelly Peckham, Melody Hayes, Mary Hayes, Jessica Pritchard, Cam Hayes, Savannah Hayes, Nicholas Ryan and Carson Ryan and five great grandchildren, Jonah Peckham, Aria Peckham, Jaden Finley, Lily Finley and Major Mbaye, and special cousins, John and Maria Allis of Syracuse.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. At Phyllis' request, there will be no calling hours and burial will be at Brookside Cemetery in Bloomingdale at the convenience of the family.
Friends wishing to remember Phyllis Ann Hayes may make donations to Tri-Lakes Humane Society, Inc., 255 George LaPan Memorial Highway, Saranac Lake, NY 12983 in her memory.
