Phyllis Margaret Holm, age 97, of Edina, MN, died on Dec. 11, 2023. She is survived by her children, Anne Holm (Frank Miller) and Phillip Holm (Kathleen Mulrooney); her grandchildren, Elinor (Ryan), Peter, Natasha (Bryce), Francesca, Gabriella, and Sophia; her nieces and nephews, Claire, Denny (JoAnn), Kenny, and Anita (Goldie); her sister-in-law Joanne; and several cousins. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Donald F. Holm; her brother, Lief Norman "Hack" Lind; her sister, Adeline Swensen (Clarence Marvin); and her sister-in-law Muriel Helland (Bernhard "Bear").
Phyllis was born May 17, 1926 to Laura (Peterson) and Nils Lind in Knife River, MN. She graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1944. She then entered nurse's training and graduated from the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps program at St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Duluth. Phyllis and Don met while both were working at St. Luke's, and they were married on November 16, 1951.
An outgoing, sociable woman, Phyllis made friends both near and far, from Benson, MN, all the way to New Zealand. She and Don loved to travel, spending time all over the world in their years together. She was an active member of Edina golf and bowling leagues and a neighborhood bridge group. She was a long-time member of The Woman's Club of Minneapolis.
A funeral service will be held Wed. Jan. 3, 2024 at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel. Visitation at 10:00 a.m., service at 11:00, and lunch to follow. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota.
