Phyllis Virginia Kewer passed away on Monday, November 10 at Waveny Lifecare in New Canaan, Ct. She was 94 years old.
Phyllis was born and raised in Stamford, Ct. She graduated from Stamford High School and in 1950 married the love of her life, Warren. Right after getting married, the couple moved to Houston, Texas where they lived for a few years before heading back home to Stamford in order to be close to family. They lived and raised their three children in Stamford before moving to Putney, Vt in 1972. During her years spent in Vermont, Phyllis worked at Book Press and then Stepping Stone Real Estate where she became a partner.
Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid reader and a good athlete. She was fond of being outdoors and particularly enjoyed being at the beach and near the water. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and close friends.
Phyllis is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Warren Stephen Kewer, her parents William and Rachel Moore Lees, her sister Margaret "Hazel" Geer, and her grandson Martin Kewer. She is survived by three children, Deborah Kewer (Maryanne) of Danvers, MA, Nancy Gold (Richard) of Stamford, Ct, and Robert Kewer (Lorraine) of Norwich, Vt. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Laura Gold, Jennifer Bockman (Jonathan), Steven Gold (Luiza), Mitchell Kewer( Ebaa), Andrew Kewer and five great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Thomas Gallagher Funeral Home,104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Friday, November 14 at 2:30 PM.
Internment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford, CT.
In honor of Phyllis and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Waveny Lifecare Network, New Canaan, CT.
