Phyllis June Hill Loring (Mayhew), age 88, resident of Marion, Illinois passed away at 5:40 am, Sunday, November 9, 2025, at her home.

Phyllis was born in Crab Orchard, Illinois, November 30, 1936, the daughter of Johnnie and Lela (Corder) Hill of Crab Orchard, Illinois. Phyllis was united in marriage to Bobby D. Mayhew in 1954 in Crab Orchard, Illinois and to this union of marriage three children were born. Phyllis later was united in marriage to Terry A. Loring on March 21, 1987, at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, in Marion, Illinois. Together they have shared 38 years together until her passing. Phyllis was a graduate of Crab Orchard High School in 1954. She was a member of the Pittsburg Freewill Baptist Church, Pittsburg, Illinois. Phyllis spent most of her working career as a secretary and retired in 2001 from the Illinois Department of Public Aid Division/Child Support Enforcement.

Phyllis was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, encouraging her family in all their endeavors and caring for their needs. She took special interest in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, attending and supporting them in all of their activities. Phyllis loved her family. She was known to all of them as “Ma, Ma”. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her and the memories of the times shared with family and friends will remain in their hearts and minds forever.

Phyllis is survived by husband, Terry A. Loring of Marion, Illinois; two sons and daughters-in-law; Bruce Mayhew and wife Teena, Marion, IL; Mike Mayhew and wife Pam, Marion, IL; two step-children including; Tami Barnes, Chesterfield, MO; Jeffery Loring and wife Sandy, Desoto, IL; four grandchildren, Mark Mayhew and wife, Heather, Jackson, MO; Melissa Moore and husband, Tyson, Marion, IL; Heather Doughty and husband, Kyle, Hendersonville, North Carolina; Hollie Mayhew, Marion, IL; great-grandchildren; Mason John Mayhew, Marlee Anne-Marie Mayhew, Maksim Evan Mayhew, and Maeryn Lily-Xiao Mayhew, Jackson, MO; Isabel Faith Moore, Marion, IL; Riece Nichole Utley, Evan David Utley, and Brady Michael Utley, Marion, IL; four step-grandchildren, Logan, Kennedy, and Landon Barnes, Chesterfield, MO, Dustin Loring, West Frankfort, IL, and one step-great granddaughter Khole Loring, West Frankfort, IL; a sister, Judy Weyant of Marion, IL; and several cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Lela Hill and one infant daughter, Kimberly Ann Mayhew.

Her greatest hobby was playing her piano and caring for her grand children and great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements for Phyllis June Loring (Mayhew) have been entrusted to Blue Funeral Home under the direction of Binkley-Ross. Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Blue Funeral home, 1704 N. Court St. in Marion. Services will follow at 1:00pm with Rev. Eddie Donelson officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion, Illinois.

For those who prefer to make memorial contribution, may make them to the American Heart Association. Contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
