Phyllis was born on April 22, 1951, to Murphy Porter and Jessie Johnson. Phyllis grew up in Beaumont, Texas, area where she received her First Communion in 1960 at Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. Phyllis relocated to Houston, Texas, in the Third Ward area. There she received her confirmation in 1962 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church.

Phyllis attended school in Houston and graduated from Jack Yates High School in 1969. In 1977, Phyllis Moore Sr, they remained happily married and created a family within three sons and one daughter until his passing in 2009.

Phyllis Moore had a long and successful career at Pitney Bowes until her retirement in 2011. Upon retirement, Phyllis let her family know she would be using her free time serving her church. Phyllis served in many ministries at St. Francis Xavier Church. She was an active member of the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Quen of All Saints Court 138, where she served as Inner Guard and committee member. Phyllis was also a member of the 55 Plus Club, an usher, CCE teacher and a fish fry volunteer.

Phyllis Moore was called home on January 13, 2026. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother Jessie Hobbs, her beloved sons, Renwick, Nathaniel and Phillip Jr.; her two daughters-in-law, Bridget and Shawn; her grandchildren; Jordan, Cheston Sr., DeAndre, Brandi, Ren'Asjia and Nathaniel Jr; her three sisters, Patricia, Paula, and Tundra, and one brother Avery Porter. She also leaves a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her loving husband, Phillip Moore Sr.; her beautiful baby girl Brandi Moore; her father, Murphy Porter; her mother-in-law, Estelle Williams; her father-in-law, Solomon Moore; and her brother, Kelvin Porter.
