Phyllis Winburn Morris

Phyllis Winburn Morris, 66, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Baptist Health in Lexington, Kentucky. The daughter of the late Gracie Lee Morris Winburn and Ernest Dean Winburn, she was born on March 23,1958, in Madison County, Kentucky. For the last 48 years, Phyllis was married to her husband John, who proposed to her after knowing her for only three days. She was a dedicated military wife, moving and traveling with her husband John's Army career, spending 12 years in Europe while raising her young family. Once Georgetown, Kentucky became home, she continued as a dedicated mother and grandmother, filling her days with raising her sons, grandchildren, and cats. Phyllis loved the liveliness of spring, and could be found faithfully tending to her gardens of peonies, sunflowers, bachelor buttons, tulips, poppies, and irises. She was a voracious reader, spending each morning and evening reading stories by her favorite authors while sipping sweet tea in her favorite spot. She lived a good life, was loved by many, and will be remembered as the remarkable woman many of us knew her to be.
Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 48 years, Johnny "John" Reed Morris; her sons, Thomas Patrick Morris, Johnathan Bradley Morris, and James Wesley Morris; her grandchildren, Kathryn Teresa Winburn and Paul Thomas Winburn; her brothers, Tracy Allen Winburn, Jeffery Dean Winburn, Howard Dale Winburn, and Charles Edward Winburn; and her sister, Reva Mae Winburn. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents.
Services for Phyllis will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am and Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, Kentucky, beginning at 2:30 pm.
