Deaconess Phyllis Katherine Morris

Phyllis Katherine Brown was born on January16, 1939 to Alice Phillips-Brown and the late Brown of Brown Funeral Home of Brooklyn, New York. She departed this life peacefully on April 14, 2025, at the tender age of 86.
During her childhood years, Deaconess Phyllis and Mother Alice Brown moved to Lakewood, NJ where she attended grammar school and was a graduate of Lakewood High School.
When Phyllis moved to the Newark area, she also attended Essex County College.
In 1958 approximately, Phyllis began her working career at the Probation Department where she worked as a cashier, where they collected money for Fines and Restitutions. She moved up the ranks to become the Supervising Cashier for the Probation/Child Support Division. She retired the 2002.
During her earlier years, Phyllis met and married Richard A. Williams and during their union they had two children, Eric C. Williams and Richard A. Williams Jr. She also raised Lamont R. Williams.
Later in life, Phyllis met and married the love of her life, Joseph (Joe) Morris on January 29, 1977.
Phyllis and Joseph Morris became faithful members of the First Baptist Church of Nutley, NJ. They were faithful members of the Deacon and Deaconess Ministry. Phyllis also sang soprano with the "World Famous" Angelic Choir. She was a faithful supporter of the First Baptist Church Women's Ministry every moth.
Deacon Phyllis K. Morris leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband Deacon Joseph Morris of 48 years of marital bliss. She also leaves her three sons Eric, Richard and Lamont Williams. Stepsons Joseph Jr., Michael, Todd, Craig, Maurice and Joseph Morris III, and stepdaughter Roxanne Plant. She also has a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in passing by her stepson Victor Morris.
