Phyllis Ruth Ramel, born on October 1, 1942, in
West Bend, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in Wilmington, North Carolina. She leaves behind a legacy of dedication, warmth, and intellectual curiosity.
Phyllis was a devoted technical manual writer for the Army Corps of Engineers in Wilmington, where she made significant contributions to her field through her meticulous attention to detail and commitment to excellence. Her love for the Wilmington area was profound, particularly the serene beauty of its beaches, where she found solace and inspiration.
An alumna of the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Phyllis earned her Bachelor's Degree with distinction. Her academic journey fueled a lifelong passion for learning and literature. A cherished member of a local book club, Phyllis formed deep connections with fellow members who were especially supportive and caring when she began to lose her eyesight.
Her life was enriched by the harmonious notes of classical music, which she enjoyed greatly, finding joy and peace in its melodies. Phyllis was also a devoted member of St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church at 612 South College Road, Wilmington, where her faith and community were central to her life. Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Raymond and Pearl Ramel, and her dear sister, Patricia R. Stallings. She is survived by her loving nephews, Raymond Stallings and his wife Tracey, and Tommy Stallings and his wife Barbara, who will forever cherish her memory.
In accordance with her wishes, no formal services are planned. Her urn will be laid to rest in her hometown of
West Bend, Wisconsin, where her journey began.
Phyllis Ruth Ramel's life was a testament to love, learning, and community, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
