Phyllis Reeves Obituary
Phyllis H. Reeves, age 81, of Colonial Heights stands now in the Glory of God. She passed away of natural causes at home on November 12, 2023 surrounded by family and devoted caregiver Laura Poindexter at the time of her passing.
Born to Serilda (Fannin) Haney and Abraham Haney on January 13, 1942 in Milo, Kentucky, she was the youngest child in a family of ten. She graduated from Inez High School in May of 1960 and moved to Ohio where she met her soon-to-be husband. They married on January 27, 1963, and began their family and service to this country as a military family for the United States Air Force. They traveled the world and would settle in Colonial Heights, Virginia. They later divorced in 1983, but went on to remarry again on January 27, 2001 and spent the rest of their lives together.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Rudolph T. Reeves Jr. on November 16th 2013 as well as all her brothers, Lawrence, Ernest, Russell, Hobert, Michael and Raymond. And sisters Margie ( Lizzie) and Lorraine. Phyllis retired from the Defense Supply Center as a Parts Procurement Specialist in Richmond Virginia in February 2003. She loved beautiful flowers and seeing her family as much as possible.
She leaves behind two loving sons, Rudolph (Rudy) T. Reeves III and wife, Dale, and Robert Kendall Reeves and wife, Shannon; grandchildren, Jordan, Colin, Brooke and husband, Jason, Holli, Savannah and Kimber; great-grandsons, Jason Reeves and mother, Ashley Rae Thompson, and Benjamin Choi; as well as many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, November 16, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2023 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. A reception will be held at Colonial Christian Church, 295 Dunlop Farms Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834, immediately following graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, https://cratercommunityhospice.org/, 3916 S Crater Rd, Petersburg, VA 23805.
