Phyllis Jane (Hill) Richardson, 91, of Moberly, died peacefully surrounded by family on June 25th, 2023. She was born on August 19, 1931 in Faulkton, South Dakota to the union of James Bland and Esther Olive (Chaussee') Hill.
She is survived by her two children, daughter Robin Richardson Koury of Columbia Missouri, and son Robert "Bobby" Richardson and his wife Patty of Independence Missouri, "MiMi" to her four grandchildren Gabrielle "Gabi" Koury (Wilmington, Delaware), Daniel "Danny" Richardson (Albuquerque, New Mexico), Alexandra "Alex" (Koury) Paulsel and husband John "JD" Paulsel (Denver, Colorado), Amy Richardson (Springfield, Missouri), and other loving relatives across the country.
Phyllis enjoyed a long life in Moberly. She and her father were avid American Saddlebred horse lovers, and she enjoyed showing her 5-gaited horses at large or small shows throughout the Midwest; eventually winning in the 5- gated class at the American Royal Horse Show in Kansas City 3 times with her Favorite horse "Lady Skybuck" and trainer Virgil Helm.
The Richardson's were longtime members of the Moberly Country Club where their love of golf became a family activity. They enjoyed playing in Hawaii and attending tournaments like the Masters in Georgia and Pebble beach.
Phyllis graduated from University of Missouri, where her father and 2 sisters also attended college and was a 50-year member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. She was a 50-year member of the PEO sisterhood that helps women with funding their educational needs. Phyllis and Bob enjoyed a 75 year plus membership at Central Christian Church where they actively served. Bob and Phyllis were married on April 4th, 1954, at Central Christian Church where their parents were also active members for many years and where their children attended and were active members. She loved to read and was a member of the library for years and years
Phyllis was a physical education teacher at St. Pius X school in Moberly, Moberly High School and Junior College for over 19 years. She moved on to becoming the first Director of Woman's Athletics at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo. She coached Volleyball and tennis and received Coach of the Year awards for both. She received her master's degree in education at age 51.
Phyllis and Bob were great friends of the Block family in Huntsville and spent over 15 years helping to manage the Huntsville Horseshow; one of the few outdoor show arenas in the country. Traveling to Europe as well as vacationing in the United States was a favorite activity for Phyllis and her family. Phyllis and Bob enjoyed their 20-year membership at the Wellness Center in Moberly where great lifetime friendships were made.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, July 23, 2022 as well as her parents and two sisters: Marylin Hill Craig of McMinnville, Oregon and Mary Hill Strickfaden of Fox River Grove, Illinois.

A Visitation and Funeral Service honoring Phyllis's life was held in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel.
Committal prayer and burial will take place Friday July 28,2023, 3PM graveside at the Oakland Cemetery.
