Phyllis Rogers, age 90, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Valley View Village in Des Moines.
Phyllis was born on January 16, 1935 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was the only child born to Phillip and Mary (Murphy) Rees. Phyllis graduated from Lincoln High School in 1953.
Phyllis married Harold Rogers on February 5, 1956 at Park Avenue Christian Church in Des Moines, IA. Phyllis and Harold were blessed with three children: Ronald, Karen and Phillip.
Phyllis was a busy housewife and stay at home mom. When the children left the nest, Phyllis became interested in real estate. She purchased properties and created a company called P&H Properties. Phyllis renovated the properties, which she then rented and later sold. During retirement, Phyllis and Harold spent time traveling. Phyllis had numerous hobbies including baking, doing crafts, and watching football on television with her wonderful husband. She was also a tremendous fan of the basketball player, Caitlin Clark.
Phyllis is survived by a son, Ronald (Becky) Rogers and their son, Nick (Kellie) Rogers, Nick and Kellie's children, Cole and Brenna; a daughter, Karen (Bryan Sr.) Nevins and their son, Bryan Jr. (Hailey) Nevins, Bryan and Hailey's children, MaKayla and Grafton; a son, Phil (Lynn) Rogers; and two dear cousins who she considered as her sisters: Sally Wolford and Lynn Montgomery.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Monroe County, with Pastor Neil Montz officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in rural Monroe County.
