Phyllis Jean Serna, known affectionately as Phyllis to her loved ones, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, in Riverside, California. Born on February 22, 1954, in Fresno, California, Phyllis's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and joy that touched the hearts of everyone she encountered.
Phyllis's journey began as a bright light in the lives of her parents and siblings in Fresno. She carried that light with her through every chapter of her life, spreading warmth and kindness to all. Her spirit of love was perhaps best reflected in her cherished partnership with Edward Arias. Together for 27 years, Phyllis and Edward cultivated a relationship built on mutual respect, laughter, and unwavering support.
A devoted mother to her daughters, Brandy Sandoval and Jessica Serna, Phyllis instilled in them the values of love, compassion, and perseverance. Her guidance and affection were also a constant source of inspiration for her 15 grandchildren, with whom she shared her love for life's simple pleasures.
Phyllis's professional life was marked by her 22 years of dedicated service as a receptionist with Kaiser Permanente Medical Group. Her friendly demeanor and genuine care for others made her a beloved figure among colleagues and patients alike.
Beyond her work, Phyllis had a passion for collecting turtles and Harry Potter memorabilia, a testament to her youthful spirit and love for storytelling. She found excitement in going to the horse races, the magic of Disneyland, and the serenity of the beach. A fervent Dallas Cowboy fan, Phyllis's enthusiasm for her team was infectious, bringing family and friends together in shared excitement.
Her siblings, Monica Davis, Cheryl Gigler, Robert Hesse, and Daniel Hesse, will fondly remember Phyllis for her unwavering kindness and the close-knit bond they shared. Her presence was a source of comfort and joy in their lives, and the memories they created together will be cherished forever.
Phyllis's legacy is one of love, kindness, and friendliness. She navigated life's challenges with grace and always found reasons to smile. Her positive outlook and the genuine connections she forged with those around her will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
As we say farewell to Phyllis Jean Serna, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, rich in experiences and abundant in love. Her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, reminding us that at the heart of life are the relationships we nurture and the love we share.
