Phyllis Newell Simpson

Mrs. Phyllis Newell Simpson 85, of Fort Lawn, widow of Earl Patton Simpson, passed away Friday, December 26, 2025 at MUSC-Columbia. She was born May 8, 1940 in Fort Mill, a daughter of the late Willis Newell and Margie McCall Alford. Mrs. Simpson was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Edgemoor, SC. She was famous for her tea and making pound cakes for the family. Mrs. Simpson enjoyed doing word searches. She always kept the babies in the family.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Simpson will be held Friday, January 2, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Harmony Baptist Church with the Rev. Patrick Roddey officiating. Burial will be in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Simpson is survived by two daughters, Patti Evans (Mike) of Pageland and Kelly Johnson (Mike) of Lancaster; a brother, Kirby Newell (Sue) of Catawba; two grandchildren, Courtney Adams (Mark) of Clover and Reagan Evans of Pageland; and one great-grandchild, Harrison Adams. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Alford; and two sisters, Judy Hembree and Barbara Hawkins.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2026 at Harmony Baptist Church.
