Phyllis Rose Marie Stanek

Phyllis Rose Marie (Carlson) Stanek, age 93, passed away on October 6, 2025, at Woodland Terrace in Saint Joseph, Michigan. She was born on September 1, 1932, to Frank Bardoni and Hulda Carlson in Chicago, Illinois. She married Robert (Bob) J. Stanek on September 15, 1956, and they spent 65 happy years together until his passing in October of 2021.

A private family burial for Phyllis will take place in her hometown of Norway, Michigan in her beloved Upper Peninsula. Phyllis grew up in Norway, Michigan and enjoyed her days in the UP. After she married her husband, Bob, they eventually settled in Saginaw, Michigan where they spent the next 60 years. She was a homemaker while her children grew up but eventually went on to work for Meijer for many years before she retired. Phyllis loved to bowl and play golf well into her 80's. One of her greatest passions was travelling, especially bus trips with Bob and regular visits to see family and friends in the Norway area.

Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Karen (Jeff) Ziebart, Christy (Manny) Barriger; grandchildren, Rebecca (Ben) Hanson, Michelle (Gabe) Gembala, Madison Barriger; great-grandchildren, Max Hanson, Mackenzie Hanson, and Scarlett Gembala. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Stanek; and beloved son, Brian Stanek.
