Phyllis Ruth Sutton

Phyllis Ruth Van Name Sutton, 86, of 72 Shannon Ct., Timberlake, died Friday, August 2, 2024. Born in Staten Island, NY, Mrs. Sutton was the daughter of the late Russell Winfield and Olive Wakeham Van Name. She was first the wife of the late Jessie Alfred Barnes, Jr. and later married John Davis Sutton, Jr. Mrs. Sutton was also preceded in death by two sons, Jessie Alfred Barnes and Russell Edward Barnes and her only sister, Janet Ann Van Name Ottenheimer. Mrs. Sutton graduated from Katherine Gibbs School and retired from Komline-Sanderson. She was a member of the Fairmount Presbyterian Church in Califon, NJ.
Mrs. Sutton is survived by three children, Melissa Barnes Elliott (James), of Piscataway, NJ, Kim Barnes Mencl, of Hackettstown, NJ and Lawrence Barnes (Whitney), of Timberlake; eleven grandchildren, Jessie Barnes (Melissa), Lindsay Lijo (Justin). Timothy Barnes (Courtney), Michael Barnes (Chayanisa), Rachel Elliott, Jamie Elliott, Christopher Barnes (Cristi), Alyssa Paparatto (Steve), Kristen Cenicacelaya, Kyle Mencl and Kathryn Barnes; and many great-grandchildren.
Honoring her wishes, no services will be held and her ashes will be scattered at locations known to the family.
