Roland Edward Shields

Roland Edward Shields, 75, of Roxboro, died Wednesday, October 22, 2025 after a short illness. Roland was the son of the late Edd and Barsh McCann Shields. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Vennoy Shields and two sisters, Shelby Dixon and her husband Lawrence and Docie Kimball.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Bass Shields of Roxboro and his two daughters Crystal (Jeff) Rymal of Liberty and Tiffany Shields of the home.Two sisters, Rosa and (Michael) James of Lexington and Cynthia Shields (Vickie) of Jeffersonville KY. One brother-in-law, Keith Kimball; Three grandchildren Brock (Camden) Garland of Graham, Nicholas and Samantha Rymal and two great-granddaughters Emerson and Monroe Garland.
Roland was raised on the farm where he worked hard and learned the importance of family values. He loved to hunt with his grandsons. He often went for long walks in the woods picking up various pieces of wood to carve into beautiful canes. He had a great sense of humor and was a great storyteller often making up stories as he told them. You never knew whether it was true or not but it kept everyone around him laughing. He was a loving and devoted husband and wonderful father.
Memorial services will be held at 2pm Saturday Oct 25 at Brooks and White Chapel by the Pastor Andy Clapp. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1pm-2pm at the Brooks and White Chapel.
