Phyllis graduated in 1957 from T. L. Handy High School in Bay City and went on to attend nurses training at E.W. Sparrow School of Nursing. She graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1961. Phyllis retired from Michigan Department of Corrections; Dwane L Waters Hospital after working 20 years as an RN primarily on 3rd shift.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Phyllis found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a love for animals especially her beloved pets. She enjoyed going out to eat with her family and friends and eating popcorn from the movies. Phyllis loved learning about and shopping for antiques with her husband Cal at estate sales.
She loved cooking foods from her German heritage and actively sewed and knitted in her earlier years. She was an avid reader but especially loved solving murder mystery thrillers. Phyllis loved to celebrate life with her chocolate candy and ice cream treats. She was a dedicated fan of Michigan State University.
After retirement, she loved to travel and see new sights such as Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Germany.
Words can't express how much Phyllis will be missed by her family and cat Pookie. She was an inspiration to all for her intelligence, determination and ability
to survive and thrive.
No services will be held, per Phyllis's request. A celebration of her life will be held in Michigan at a later date.
