Phyllis Kathryn Wermus

Phyllis Kathryn (Merrick) Wermus, age 81 of Eagan, MN, passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving, November 27, 2025.

She is preceded in death by parents, Gordon and Harriet Merrick. She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Dan; son, David (Kristin) Wermus; daughter, Kathryn (Todd) Hindahl; beloved grandchildren, Reeve, Brooke, Merrick, and Ben; step-grandsons, Andon and Tyler.

Phyllis was born on December 10, 1943, in St. Paul, MN. She graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in 1961. Phyllis was proudly employed by the Burnsville Police, where she worked for 21 years. She was a highly esteemed worker and adored her job. She had a gift for making friends and kept most of them for a lifetime. Phyllis had many skills, including sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She was a caregiver at Heat and volunteered at the Vets Hospital for many years. At the center of her world, was her love for family and her home. She kept a beautifully decorated home and a well-trimmed yard. She loved music and dancing. It was nearly impossible to keep her off the dance floor, and her famous quote was "Can't you feel the beat?"

Phyllis was a kind and genuine person who was adored by family and friends. She was blessed in life with her dear family and many friends, whom she cherished. Phyllis had a quick wit and a style of grace. She was kind to all, and was much loved. Phyllis will be very dearly missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was sunshine in so many people's lives, and the world will be dimmer without her.

Funeral Services will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, located at 4030 Pilot Knob Road, Eagan, MN. Visitation at 9:00 AM, Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, followed by lunch. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights, MN
