Phyllis Marie West, age 68, transitioned to her heavenly home on August 28, 2025.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., in the Mausoleum at Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville, NC. The service will be officiated by her nephew, Rev. Steven L. West.

Born in Rose Hill, NC, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Kenneth William West, Jr. and Clara Marie Harper West (Hudson). She spent her early years in the Kinston area of Lenior County before moving to the Greenville area of Pitt County in the 1960s. She attended J.H. Rose High School and proudly graduated with the Class of 1974. Phyllis loved her family and friends. Known for her thoughtfulness, she never missed an opportunity to send a card with a heartfelt message enclosed. She was such a special, sweet and caring person. She had a passion for jewelry, clothes, shoes, her cats and of course, Dr. Pepper! Throughout her career, Phyllis worked for various employers, including Sears, The Daily Reflector, Wachovia, and later with East Carolina University where she retired.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth West Jr. and mother, Clara Hudson; grandparents, Thomas & Mildred Harper and Kenneth Sr. & Eunice West; step-brother Charlie Smith & brother-in-law Kenny Cobb; aunts, Vickie Kornegay, Faye Avery and Linda Gresham; uncles, Charles Harper, Thomas (Bud) Harper, Milton Harper, George West, Mitchell West, Johnny West and Edward West. Special great-uncle, Clifford and great-aunt Joan Jordan.

She is survived by her loving stepfather Kirby R. Hudson, stepmother Ethel Thielke, sister Deborah Cobb, and her beloved brother Ricky West (Lynn), brother Kenny West; stepsister, Donna Ginn and stepbrother, Chris Smith. Also leaving behind nieces, Kensie Cobb and Amanda West (Anthony); nephew, Steven West (Elizabeth); grandniece, Ava West; grandnephews, Carson West, Luciano Giambrone & Beckett Giambrone. Phyllis will also be deeply missed by her special aunts, Deborah Parkhurst (Kelsey & Katy), Betty Anderson, Connie Lowrey and Alice Mims (Berkley) and uncle Frankie West. Very special friends, Bonnie, Caroline and Meg. Phyllis also had a host of other friends and special cousins she loved dearly.

Phyllis's family would like to say a special thank you to Ruthie for helping Phyllis prior to the Carrollton Nursing Home. Also want to thank, the Carrollton nurses (Ginny, Cara and others), Hospice nurses and Chaplin (Bridgette, Cindy, Amy, Trish and Wanda) that cared for Phyllis while she was at the Carrollton.
