Master Chief Petty Officer Pierce "Joe" E. Thacker, 90, passed away in Lakeland on Monday, March 9, 2029.

Following his retirement, Joe moved to Michigan where he lived for several years before settling in Lakeland in 1986.

Joe valued education and personal growth. He was a graduate of Mt. San Antonio College in California and Northwood University in Michigan. Throughout his life, he remained committed to his faith and was a fiercely devoted member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lakeland for many years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marcus Thacker, mother, Frances Walker Thacker, and his beloved wife, Kay Thacker.

Joe is survived by his sons, Michael Thacker and Joseph "Joe" Thacker (Emiley); his loving partner, Beverly Foster; his granddaughter, Avery; and dear friends Henry Navarro, Rick Foster, and Kathleen Foster.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 13, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with the funeral service immediately following at 1:00 PM at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Road, Lakeland.
