Peter Guidotti, age 92, of Flowery Branch, GA, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. He was a Beloved Father, Grandfather & Great Grandfather and Patriarch of the Atlanta branch of our Italian family.
Peter was preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, Ethel Diane Papworth. He is survived by his 2 daughters, Cynthia Joyce Lewis (David) of Milton, GA and Victoria G. Edwards (Bill) of Flowery Branch, GA; 4 grandchildren, Lisa Marie Destefano (Brian), Christina Diane Woodall (Ben), Peter Joseph Waller, Victoria Angelina Cox; 3 great-grandchildren, Connor Patrick, Declan William Destefano, Willow Rose Cox; 4 step great-grandchildren, Andrew Ray, Luke Benjamin, Jack
Robinson & Bowen William Woodall and 1 great-great grandchild Khalia Rae Woodall.
Pete was born on October 3,1931 and raised in the Italian neighborhood of Hungry Hill in Chicago Heights, IL. The youngest of 7 children of Andrea and Francesca Scartozzi Guidotti. After meeting and marrying Diane, he served in the United States Army during the Korean Way as a munition's expert from 1951 – 1954. After leaving the military, he and Diane moved to the South eventually settling in Atlanta, GA
The following years he became a well-respected member of the automotive industry managing several large and successful dealerships.
After retiring, he spent most of his time on the golf course or driving range where he was often called upon to share his knowledge with anyone that needed a tip to sharpen their skills. Fellow golfers appreciated his generosity and patience.
At home and among family, he was revered for his ability to share beloved memories and stories of his Italian heritage around the "Sunday Gravy" dinner table.
He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered with much love as our "Head of the Table".
In lieu of a funeral, the family will hold a small and private celebration of life at home.
