PJ, my CPE Brother, my heart is heavy to know of your passing. You were an intellectual colossus. You always amazed me with breadth and depth of your knowledge. As I said during our stay in Nashville, "I don´t need the internet, I have PJ !" I love you Brother! You will be greatly missed! God Speed Brother ! God Speed!

I was also a member of MUN Med School Class of '78. The first day there I met Pius & he was reading Tristam Shandy & I knew right away he was an exceptional guy. Shandy was too weird for me though! He became good friends with my best friend, Dr. Ann Roberts. Here we all are (me in aviators) in a picture clearly from the 70s. Pius & I reconnected in January 2024 & spent hours late at night texting about tea, dogs, the environment & everything else. He was always brave & optimistic. I miss those conversations. I miss his mind. My deepest condolences go out to his family for their great loss. I've already planted a 3 foot sugar maple in my "urban meadow" (formerly my front lawn). It's in a really sunny spot & will blaze with color this autumn. He would approve.

I met P.J. Powers years ago via mutual friends. He seemed a regular down to earth person. He was understated. Sympathies to all his loved ones and associates.

PJ was an amazing neonatologist and a very special friend. God sent him to St Peters Hospital in Albany, New York one day to look for some per diem work. My response was: Let's make it full-time. He accepted. What an amazing contribution he made during his time with us. He was one of the best doctors I ever had the pleasure of working with. He could talk on any subject medical or other. Most of all he was a good human being who truly cared. His visits will be greatly missed. Rest in peace PJ.
