Polly Prosser Sanders Dodson age 93, formerly of Shelbyville, TN died November 4, 2025, in Covington, Georgia at her residence.
Mrs. Dodson was born May 7, 1932, in Moore County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Thomas Guy Prosser and Julia Womble Prosser. She is survived by son Robert C. Sanders Jr. (Monica) of Covington, GA; step-daughter; Julia Dodson and step-son; Richard Dodson of Chattanooga, TN, sister; Grace Clanton of Shelbyville, grandchildren; granddaughter, Jessica Kelly (Ridge) of Georgia; Sam White (Brittney) of Florida; step-grandchildren; Cole Denham and Lindsey Webb (Wesley) of Georgia, Hillary and Cam Dodson, great grandchildren; Ryan, Tegan, Asa, Loclyn, Addy, Dakota, and Beckett, along with many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Dodson was preceded in death by husband K.C. Dodson; daughter Emily White; grandson, Alex White; brothers: Harold, Thomas and Frank Prosser, sisters: Hester Prosser, Margie Shearin, Sue Bragg and Shirley Robert.
Mrs. Dodson attended Moore County High School; graduated from Shelbyville Central High School; she received a B.S. from the University of Tennessee; EDS from Middle Tennessee State University; Postgraduate at University of Tennessee Nashville and Knoxville; and Postgraduate at Vanderbilt-Peabody. She taught in Giles County, Giles County Counselor, Columbia State College and TPS in Nashville. She later became a businesswoman and antique dealer.
She was an active member of Historic Red Oak Methodist Church in Covington, GA, a supporter of the University of Tennessee and a former charter member of the University of Tennessee Alliance of Women Philanthropists, a life time member of the James K. Polk Memorial Society; supporter of the Moore County Archives; Bedford County Rescue Squad; Shelbyville Art Center; Charter and board member of Columbia Soroptimist Club. Past member of Ladies Hermitage Association; American Association of University Women, Columbia Business and Professional Club, Columbia Bridle and Saddle Club; APTA of Maury County; Active of the Republican Party.
Graveside services will be held 3 PM Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Willow Mount Cemetery in Shelbyville, TN 37160. With Brother Ron Dewitt officiating.
