Primo Scappini Obituary

Primo Scappini
Primo Scappini, 75, of North Haven, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 6th, 2026, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 44 years to Luigia Fratta Scappini. Primo was born in Riccione, Province of Rimini, Italy, on February 4th, 1951, and was the son of the late
Loris and Elvira Massari Scappini. At the age of four Primo came to the United States with his family and settled in Waterbury. In 1969, Primo graduated from Wilby High School and afterwards started working as a machine operator for Scovill Manufacturing in Waterbury. He then worked for Century Brass, Rostra Vernatherm and later Radio Frequency Systems until his retirement in 2019. Primo loved gardening and being outside in his yard. He also enjoyed his walks every morning, both in the neighborhood and with his wife at the grocery store. Most of all, Primo enjoyed spending time with his family, laughing and telling jokes, and enjoying glasses of wine. In addition to his wife, Primo is survived by his daughter, Elvira (Scott) Cleary, his sister, Rose Santopietro, and many brothers and sisters-in-law; Federico (Antonietta), Edmondo (Flora), Antonio (Paolina) Fratta, Rolando Maio, Elisa DiMatteo, and Rosa DiPaola. Primo was also affectionately called "Nonno Pino" by Gianna and Jason Mazzucco, is survived by his niece, Rosemarie (Marc) Welch, and nephew, John (Susan) Santopietro, as well as many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews. Primo was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Piccolo and Josephine Nardiello, mother and father-in-law, Nicola and Natalina Fratta, brothers-in-law, Pietro DiMatteo and Alfredo DiPaola, and sister-in-law, Madalena Maio. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire Fratta family for their constant care, support, and always being present for Primo.
The visiting hours will be on Friday morning, March 13th, from 9:00 to 11:00 at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.
